Six manufacturers currently have a home in Formula E: Audi, Jaguar, Renault, DS, Mahindra, and the Chinese company that once held the Nürburgring fast-lap record, Nio. But with the success of the racing series thus far, expect that number to grow. Artist Aksyonov Nikita has imagined a Formula E future with even more manufacturers joining the grid.
Six new contenders have been imagined, from Alfa Romeo to McLaren. Each of these images purport a fantastic near-future in which some of the most prestigious supercar makers have a vehicle in Formula E. Some of the concepts draw cues from previous racers, while others look to their supercars as inspiration. Whatever the case, they look amazing.

Alfa Romeo Formula E

Alfa Romeo already has a vehicle in Formula 1. The Italian automaker fielded an F1 vehicle together with Sauber for the first time in 33 years. But Formula E could be the next step. This rendering isn’t nearly as subtle – or arguably as beautiful as the current F1 car – but it is deeply tied to Alfa Romeo’s racing heritage. It wears the iconic red, white, and blue Martini livery beautifully.

Bentley Formula E

Not since the 1920s has Bentley committed to racing as much as it has recently. In 2013, it unveiled the Continental GT3 – essentially a rear-wheel-drive race version of Continental GT V8 coupe. With the Bentley motorsport portfolio expanding, Formula E would make the most sense for the next series moving forward. This concept wears a handsome grey exterior finish with lime green accents, with both Bentley and Breitling logos throughout.

Bugatti doesn’t have a motorsports presence. The closest thing to a track-ready Chiron was the Vision Gran Turismo concept from 2015. But if VW's French subsidiary did decide to put its name on any race car, it would have to be this handsome Formula E car. Borrowing cues with the Vision Gran Turismo concept – particularly the massive 14-spoke wheels – this Bugatti-branded EV looks ready for the track.

Ferrari Formula E

Ferrari doesn’t need to further prove itself on the track – the Italian marque has been at the top of the field for nearly a decade. But a jump from F1 to FE could cement Ferrari as the ultimate competitor. This rendering imagines a Formula E car wearing the same signature Rosso Corsa red found on its Formula 1 cars, and many of its road-going supercars like the LaFerrari.

Lamborghini's racing heritage goes back decades. But until now, the automaker has never shown interest in Formula E, let alone electric vehicles in general. This rendering could entice the Italian automaker to at least consider it. The handsome concept wears a blue livery with gold wheels (borrowed from the Aventador) and the Italian flag affixed subtly on the side panel.

McLaren Formula E

McLaren’s recent F1 history has been questionable, to say the least. Maybe what the British marque needs is a new start in Formula E. The company is planning an electric hypercar, and will supply batteries to the next-gen FE racers. This rendering imagines a stunning McLaren Formula E car, complete with the marque’s signature orange, silver, and black livery. It’s probably the best looking livery of the bunch.
