While we at Jalopnik have disputed whether or not the Benz Patent Motorwagen was truly the first car invented, all you need to concern yourself with is the fact that you can buy a replica of the thing. In 2001 and 2002, Mercedes-Benz produced a series of fully functioning replicas for museums and other public exhibits. The one that’s listed for sale was built in 2002 and is fully functional.
Available from Mercedes-Benz Classic, the listing doesn’t really offer much more information. It’s located at the Mercedes-Benz Museum in Stuttgart, Germany, and the chassis number, transmission number, engine number and price are all available upon request.
